The Graypants Barro Pendant Lamp, in collaboration with Caterina Moretti of Peca design studio, embodies a harmonious fusion of natural elements, crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Handmade with a ceramic base and glass shade, this pendant lamp celebrates the essence of artisanal craftsmanship, beginning its journey from the earth of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Under the guidance of local artisan Amando Pedro, Barro is brought to life through ancient, region-specific techniques. The process commences with the gathering of earth to create clay, which is then mixed with water to form slip, poured into handmade plaster molds, and fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln for nine hours. Rather than applying glaze, each piece is meticulously hand-polished with river stones, resulting in a flawlessly smooth surface.

The unique finishes of Barro reflect the diverse possibilities of the natural materials. The Natural Clay finish celebrates the purity of the clay, while the Charcoal Clay finish undergoes an additional firing process, enveloped in mud to absorb heat and smoke, resulting in a deeper, charcoal hue.
